Manolito var hjälten i TV-serien High Chaparral på 60-talet. Alla andra hjältar på den tiden var hårdkokta stereotyper utan humor. Manolito beskrevs mer poetiskt:

Although he was part of the family,
he got along well with the ”bunkhouse boys”
and did his share of the work as though
he was one of them.
